Wisconsin Engine with PTO (Rockford Clutch)

I have a Wisconsin TH engine with a factory(?) PTO. The clutch (Rockford) inside the PTO assembly is slipping (WW-74A / WC280A == the Wisconsin assembly and part numbers).

I've run out of adjustment for the clutch. Its the Lock Over Center style. Does anyone know where to get replacement parts or if rebuild kits are available? Or if more travel can be gained by mechanical adjustment inside the PTO. Any more adjustment externally and I won't be able to Lock Over Center.

So far I've tried Wisconsin of Canada and the Rockford Company. No solution yet. Looked at the Smokestak website but did not post the question over there.

From the Wisconsin Manual the clutch ==
Rockford Drilling Model 4 1/2 L.O.C . No. CLA-172-1

Thanks for any info.

The parts you need probably do exist, but are not listed as Wisconsin being one of the applications. Have you taken it apart to measure the diameter of the disc and the dimensions of the center hub, diameter, number of splines, etc.?

Wisconsin is still barely hanging on. I think the web site for them is www.wiscontotalpower.com They've gotten together with Continental. Pretty much anything for the more common engines is still available. I was able to get new valves for an AHH engine made before WW2.

I have not taken the PTO apart to measure individual parts. That is an option.

Our local JD dealership closed last month their parts counter could find anything and our local NAPA is now staffed by temp employees. Figured I'd try the web to see if anyone has a source for parts.

I"ve got a couple sources for clutch parts for more common tractors, but a lot of those parts will interchange among various makes. I think the smallest diameter clutch disc I have seen is a six inch, but I"ve not really looked for anything smaller.

I figured that the 4 1/2 in the part number is the diameter of the clutch. The engine/pto combo currently powers a 25CFM Quincy Compressor.

Off topic but on the subject. Looking at the diameter of driven/drive pulleys I'm thinking the 4.5" diameter clutch is undersized for the application. Picasso style engineering.

Pretty sure that Rockford sold that line of clutches to Twin Disc, and they still make that type of clutch, although maybe not the 4.5" size.
For quite some time, there was nobody making the split collar for the engagement, but I think that has been resolved. Good luck.

Called the company in the link.
They have clutch packs and plenty of them. I just need to measure the bore size to determine which one is in my PTO.

The link is to a Canadian company but they ship the parts out of Rockford Illinois.

Thanks for the link.
