I priced a 5 gal of cleaning solvent from Napa today it was 135.00 I proceced to the neareat paint store and bought 2 1/2 gal of paint thinner for 26.00, which I thought was high. What do you pay for solvent, or what do you use to clean parts? Stan

Get naphtha from Nelson Fuel. You can get 4 5 gal cans for that price. I don't know2 where you are at but Nelson is in the Seattle/Everett area.

Chief, I had the same scare at O'reillys last fall. I needed two pails of mineral spirits, and the usual auto supply I go to only had one so I bought it and then went to O'reillys for the second pail. Their price was three times higher, so I talked to the manager, whom I know fairly well and he looked at their store cost and it was still twice as high or thereabouts. He claims the high price of oil made mineral spirits go up. Jim

Dont bite my head off here, but what is wrong with mixing 2/3 diesel and 1/3 gasoline? I know it if flammable, I use it in my drip torches for burning prarie grass. Burns real good. Lights better than straight diesel, but not explosive like straight gas either.

I usually use mineral spirets from Home Depot, but
the price almost doubled, paint thinner is about
$5, but smells stronger.Smells better than diesel
though. After over 20 years as a locomotive
mechanic, I can't stand the smell of diesel fuel
on my hands, and it leaves an oiley film on stuff
that you wash.
