Manure and Roundup

Neighbor just gave me a bunch of composted manure which I spread out on the garden plot. I"m watering it in as I sit here.
Will it be OK to spray some Rounup to get rid of the weeds or is that somehow going to destroy the organic matter in the fertilizer?

Sorry for my ignorance.

Chuck,
Once roundup hits the soil it is neutralized. I learned that in a spray class years ago. It was originally developed as a tank cleaner.

No problem. Glyphosate (round-up) is pretty much instantly bound up to organic molecules and rendered into harmless by-products. That's why it's important to use clean water when you mix. If we have to draw from a pond or creek we use a buffering agent first.

Roundup only affects green leafy areas of plants, and travels through those plants to the roots to kill the whole plant.

The roundup that doesn't hit a green leafy area will bind with clay particles real, real fast, and convert over to inert stuff in a short time.

It has no lasting effect. It does have a soap with it that helps it get into the plants. These soaps are actually more harmful to waterways & such than the actual chemical - they can last a little while if they wash into a creek or pond. But, if you search through the data, it seems the soap is the worst part, moreso than the chemical itself. Now, we was our hands with soap how many times a day?

Some tree huggers think it is worst chemical in the world, and will be the end of all things living. You will need to visit their sites & judge for yourself on where they are coming from.

Thanks for the reassuring info.
I'll probably spray tomorrow. The wind is really whipping up today.

I did find out the hard way to wait a few weeks, before setting tomato plants out on ground that has been sprayed w/ RU.

That would be unusual. Was there something mixed with the RU? Some of the homeowner mixes include a residual chemical as well, not just RU.

Or was the sprayer used for some other chemical earlier, like 2,4D? RU is really good at pulling the other chemicals out of the tank, scouring it out.

By itself, RU shouldn't have a lasting effect under most normal conditions. Not arguing with you, just trying to figure out the why? :)

RU will kill the weeds, but I dont know if it will be organic. Here we cant use herbacide or incetacide for 3 years to certified organic.

The tomatoes on the sprayed end of the row started growing, then turned yellow and died within several weeks. The ones at the other end did fine. I later read in some RU literature, to wait 30 days after spraying, before setting ou tomatoes.
