Last week Pa stores upped the prices of Cigarettes.
by .40¢ for top shelf brands.

Today in the 6:00 news said that the prices are going up another 62¢ in a couple months with an excise tax.

My brand alone is now costing at a local CO-GO store is $7.25 a pack. buy the way I no longer buy there but the $6.82 is not good either.

At $7:00 average I can no longer afford them as I am on a fixed income.

I have been a very good supporter of your crops for 48 years at 1-2 packs a day, although I have developed a bladder tumor that was diagnosed as cancerous,?? {I don't understand either, I used it for a few things but never smoked with it }

What I'm getting at With all the economy the way it is I guess you better find some other crop to plant, or prepare it yourselves and sell it at your roadside stands along with your produce.

Almost just as cheap doing weed. {:>(

Old Roy,
They say bladder cancer can be caused by smoking.Know a friend who had it and the doctor told him that.He smoked cigars.

Would be about as well off sell'n pot on the side of the road as tobacco. Tobacco has been pay'n Gooberment's bills from day one. They ain't gonna let you cut them out that easy.

Baccer is kinda like corn squeez'ns, enjoy it just don't sell it!

The last cigarettes I bought were Pall Mall, $1.90 a carton and I used three packs a day. This price was on a military base in U.S. 1967.

A big crop of Kentucky Burley near Lorreto Kentucky September 2008. This Farmer must have an Market Plan.I hope his help returned to the job of cutting and hanging. When I stopped to take Photos about 12 Hispanics took off on a run for the back of the Farm . I never said anything about"Immigration".

As a smoker of over 40 + years what will happen when even us older smoker's say thats it, no more. I'am not paying all this BS tax. Then they will have to tax anything they can. Like your tractors, trucks, cars even your wife's once a mo. personals, all these are already taxed at some point, but what the heck lets just tax the $ell out of them. As I understand their are other things to smoke{with out state or fed. tax, humm}.

(quoted from post at 18:08:09 03/25/09) The last cigarettes I bought were Pall Mall, $1.90 a carton and I used three packs a day. This price was on a military base in U.S. 1967.

Not to make it sound like the current administration and the abundant puss that festers such a wound has a pattern of hating the military, but before slick willy hit office, soldiers stationed overseas didn't pay the alcohol and tobacco taxes. Cigs were from .40 to 1.20 or so a pack (based on carton price) depending on brand. Alcohol was priced accordingly also.

Wham!!! Cigs went from 4-12 bucks to 25-30 bucks overnight, alcohol went up considerably, AND adult magazines were removed for awhile and brought back with age restrictions.

Compare that to wanting to have vets pay for medical care that they were promised for free???

CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN

The bad part is, even if you had yelled "Immigration" it would be quicker to find them hide'n in the woods than it'd be to find 12 "locals" to get that off the ground. A patch that size, fost would get it around here before a local crew would get it in the barn.

I would like to grow more than I do, just too old to learn Spanish.

Tobaccy brought about $6.50 per pound this past year to the growers in the North East. Haven't seen prices better than that in a few years now. This is the tobacco wrapper stuff, but they are worried about the trade embargo with Cuba being lifted. If that goes, so does the price per pound as Cuba can make the same cigars much cheaper.

i sent a letter to the govener and my st rep when thy raised the tax on smokes. my though was a FAT TAX well you know how well that went over. now i quit smoking about 6 years ago but my lively hood come from lot of farmr who are in to tobacco protuction big time so if there hurt it also hurts my business repairing ther equipment. and yes i live in western ky.cloes to hopkinsville

Do the tax people only tax prepared smokes ? I am a smoker and I noticed the taxes had gone up on them except the brand I smoke . I smoke Bugler and so far the taxes havent done anything to them , $1.99 for about 30-40 cigs.
