What is better to soak parts in,ive heard gas and diesel

What is the best way to clean my carb. Ive had friends tell me that gas works. Then ive had people tell me diesel works. Whats Better??

hey ernie, thats about the smartest thing i have heard in awhile. i had to laugh outloud and tell a similiar story that happened all the time to me. i used to work in a hardware store. three years worth and we sold this drain cleaning product "liquid fire" it was called. the stuff worked great but was very dangerous. had skull and crossbones on it all sorts of warnings and such. well, folks would read the label as they held it in their hands and ask "will this stuff hurt my plastic drain lines?" i would smile and say "if it would hurt the plastic drain lines then i don't think the manufacturer would be selling it in that plastic bottle your holdin" they'd smile, and realize it then take it to the counter looking silly. i laughed about that everytime it happened. and that was alot.

GAS no, Diesel NO Thinner heck no. They make a special stuff just for carb cleaning and it is the only thing to use for carbs. I use Berryman brand Chem-dip all purpose carb cleaner. If stored right it will last for decades by the way

Berrymans Chem dip.

Peeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeewwww

get that stuff on anything or in the house and it stinks to high heaven.

It even eats through the can. If you have it stashed away when it does, it will let you know.

But it does clean carbs good and washes off with water.

Did I say P' eewww!

hat stuff has gotten very expensive. around $50 for a gallon. It will rust the l cant through overtime though.

That stuff eats plastic like its candy is why they use a can. Yep even a can after a few years gives up. I learned the hard way about how it likes rubber and plastic when I soaked a carb with rubber tipped needle and some plastic parts like a float. Neither part ever worked again
