Governor Granholm has been touting green energy as Michigans answer to the loss of the auto industry. She's been carrying a small solar panel around in her purse to show how much she believes in it,or so she says. Well,2 of those solar plants were built 9 miles from me,one was up and running with about 400 employees. I guess they were even featured on NBC news a week or so ago. Guess what folks. They are laying EVERYBODY off. The other plant won't open and one that is under construction near Battle Creek won't even have the equipment ordered to fill the new shell of a building. They claim it's a 2 week layoff, but then turned right around and said that maybe orders would pick up later in the year. Saw this same thing twice in the 70s with the old milk plant in town that closed in 75. First it was going to be a fruit storage and processing facility, until they found out that the bonds that good old Marty put up for colateral were forgeries, then it was going to be a cheese plant. That fell through after the State found out they were being hoodwinked by a guy in an old trailer out east of town who was living on some injury claim against the railroad. I knew this solar plant was in trouble when the owner/inventor anounced he was retiring right after construction began.
