18.4 x 34 tires....

I need to change the 18.4 x 34" bias ply tires on my 806. They have 50% or better tread but are rotting out and coming apart. I came across two 480/70 R 34" Michelin radials that were taken off the front of a Deere Front wheel assist. They have 60% tread or so for $100.00 ea. They look pretty good actually. How much difference is there between the two tires size wise? I have air only and 600# of weight on each axle now. Will this work for the radials? And can I use bias ply clamp on duals with them? I will be pulling a 4/16" bottom plow, 14' chisel/sweeps and 24' crustbuster two bar spring tooth. Thanks, Funtwohunt

480 MM converts to 18.9 inches the 70 means that the height is 70% of the width.

I don't know alot about tires but I've heard tire dealers say that with radials you run alot lower air pressure,so with the bit bigger radials and less air pressure,you may very well be ok with the snap on bias duals?

Don't know about the size,but if they match up,and the question is whether or not you can run radials against bias duals,I do it with my 18.4x38s. Have for years.

Something you might check on first,we were told a few years ago NOT to use the tires designed for front wheel drive on the rear drives.Something about belt layment not being designed for high torque use.This was on 28" and 30" tires.Hope I'am 100%wrong and you can use them,but it might pay to look into it first.The replacement for a 18.4 is 480/85r-34.

62.2" tall instead of 65.1" tall. They will likely pull more dry than the 18.4X34's full of liquid ballast.

They'll fit fine... but they will be a smaller diameter (smaller rolling radius) so I doubt they'll match your duals unless you have 16.9-34 duals.
I run 18.4R34 radials with 18.4-34 duals. It works.... BUT the duals are larger. I run them with less air in the outside. I'd also not buy another bias for the outside. This is just the way I got the wheels... When I'm ready to put new radials on the inside, the present ones are going to the duals.
The present situation is not ideal...
