Factory service manuals for GM vehicles???

Once upon a time somebody posted a source for real GM service manuals. Not the IT/Coles Notes versions. Anyways I lost/can't find the info.

Buzz has it right. Helm has been the Official Source for GM manuals for over twenty years. The owner's manuals used to have an order form on the back page.

I was surprised to find how many other brands they carry: Honda (including Power Equipment), Ford, Toyota, Isuzu, Hyundai, etc.

I use the shop manuals that are at the library. The newest ones are within 23 years and cover back 30 years for all major makes.

I buy factory manuals for all my cars and trucks. For GM, I get most of the manual sets from Helms (same place dealers order from) - but there are few other places that sometimes have better prices - especially for some of the older discontined manuals.

I just got a bunch of Ford F250 factory manuals and diesel supplement manuals from the following. They also have some original GM manuals.

GM's factory manuals, as pointed out below, don't get ordered from GM, but from Helm, Inc. So unless your dealer is doing you a favor, he's ordering the manuals from Helm for the same price you'd pay, and then marking them up.

When I last worked at the GM dealer in 1994, we directed the customers to order direct from Helm because (a) a lot of customers never picked up manuals after they ordered them, even if they were prepaid, and (b) we thought the manuals were expensive enough through Helm; no sense having to mark them up 30-50% to show a profit on them.
