Depends on the situation. The "hole in the wall" is one way. On one house with a basement, I drilled a hole in the box sill and ran the wire in the basement and up through the wall or floor. Also, on some single story houses you can go into the attic and then down the wall. Hope this helps.

In order to be up to code, you need to put a grounding block in the coax near where it enters the house. This is to prevent the build-up of static electricity in the antenna (helps avoid lightning strikes).

Also you need a drip-loop in the coax where it enters the exterior wall to prevent water damage. Also use silicon. I have some bad water damage in my house from an improper antenna install 30 years ago.
