Thinking about going up to the inlaws today to spread manure. Father inlaw thinks that the jd 50 won't be able to spread, the tractor will work too hard. So he wants me to use the big tractor, AC 185. Don't get me wrong, the allis will make it easier, but I LOVE to hear the 2 cylinder work! Can't wait to get out and plow the corn fields from last fall. Gonna be 50's again here in west central MN! Spring has finally come!

I use to get parts for the Viking and Standard Twin garden tractors back in the 1960's & 70's from New York Mills & Ottertail MN. Should have visited that area back in the late 70's when I was in Chicago. They told me they were about 80 miles from Fargo ND. Hal

Though my brother in law has no livestock or crops, and lives in the city, he is a master at spreading manure. I rarely see him, but that he is spreading it a heavy layer of the richest manure around.

Must be a pretty small spreader or that 50 isn't gonna take it with the ground as soft as it's gotten the past couple of days. I have a 250 bushel spreader, and my 170 AC won't begin to pull it in the spring with the ground soft. Takes about 100hp to do it without killing off the tractor.

The farm is south east of alexandria. I got there and there was a good size puddle out in the field, so needless to say I didn't spread much..... we use a jd model 40 spreader.
