What works best? Newspaper TV/radio and bullitin borads where you pin up the paper ad? Lets leave online ebay craigs list etc out of this one. Seems to me that newspaper is in decline or no one reads it. Bullitin boards here are a collarge of papers and some places took them down. Thanks to all

Why do we have to leave craigslist out of it. Fact is Ive had more luck with craigslist then the paper, thrifty nickel, midwest mess, etc. sorry but cant leave craig out...it works for me.

Craigslist is #1 place I advertise anything for sale. Almost everything I ever listed sold fast, at or near the price I posted..

Papers are on the decline. The ad rates are way too high, IMHO. I do go online and check some classified ads at our local paper, but seldom see anything that I am interested in.

Craigslist is FREE so DUH! the return for your advertising $$$ is about as good as it gets.Local buy and sell papers in my area let you put in free ads and are very popular.YTAG ads are also FREE and usually get a god response
IF the items you're selling are priced reasonably

Don't see anything in a newspaper classified any more, so don't bother looking any more....

Craigslist I look at anyhoe 3-5 times aweek.

The regional ag papers I look at a lot. Many are tabloid size, and have all the area farm auctions listed, and a large ag classified section. I look at those every month, I browse through perhaps 4 of them. Doeswn't anyone else?

Here in my part of the world, The Land, MN Farmer Guide, oh shoot can't think of the others right now.... You're missing out if you don't know your regional ag publications, they cover perhaps a 1/3 to perhaps 3 states for curculation....

It all depends on what you are selling.

If you are selling say an antique tractor then put up pictures with descriptions on corkboards in the local grocery stores and advertize on Ytmag too.

The newspaper works too, but how many people read it.???

All avenues are good.

We have run a small business for 22 years. As a service business, we advertised in the local yellow pages. Radio and tv are pretty expensive. Lately, we are getting people saying that they saw our web site, and read reviews online of our business. But we are trying to reduce our yellow pages expense, in favor of the web stuff. Printed media is apparently going away.

We have a farm newspaper which covers California, Oregon, Washington, and some of Idaho. The Capitol Press, comes out weekly, and has been a great help to me, as a greenhorn farmer. I have subscribed to it since 2000, and bought two gift subscriptions. for established local farm friends, who should have been using it for years, but didn't know about it. Between it, and the YT forums, and craigs list, I usually find more than I can afford to buy. One exception has been Seed Corn. I still havent found a dealer in western washington, for RR seed for this spring.

Our local newspaper is a joke now. I advertised my pickup in 06. A little 3 line ad cost 65.00! I'll never do that again. I can put a photo ad in the tri state swapper WITH a photo for 27.00. I don't think any one reads the newspaper classifieds anymore. Since I commute one hour each way to work I get a lot off the radio. I try Craigslist. It seems to be a big rummage sale. I get lots of inquiries for address and phone but never see any prospects.

Besides Craig and ebay, the only other place I've done any good is the Sunday classifieds of the largest area urban daily in our area.

Don't know what you are selling but a lot of thing have to be "SEEN" to sell quickly. Find a spot on a MAIN road and pay the property owner if you need to. You will sell it. Forget the worthless papers. Craigs list is next and then e-bay. Again , it depends on what you are selling.

Depends on what you re advertising. My business is a specialty repair service, so local advertising isn t really a good choice for me. The best local advertising we have is community involvement. People see it when you re out helping others. I have went with basic yellow page adds, and put more into radio. With radio, you have to have a good drive time slot. My theory is if people hear my add, when they open the phone book or go online, they see my name and say "hey, I remember hearing about those guys."

If selling something, I would agree Craigslist is a good choice. How many of us hop on and at least browse thru craigslist, when we re looking for something...

How do you even find a Craigs list and what are they, on here is only place have ever heard of something like that.

There is a local FREE paper comes out once a week called County Classifieds and has a distribution of probably around a dozen counties and is avaible on the net that is a very good place to advertise for sale. And the adds only cost $1 for each ad and 1 item is all you can put in an ad but you can put in a dozen ads if you want. The ad is put in for 3 weeks; once a week; for that $1 and they are doing good bussiness.
