O/T digital tv-slow to change channels

The processing of the signal requires pretty massive computing. Some tuners do a pretty good job (two seconds or so), others have a longer delay. There will be a delay of a few seconds in actually watching the show as well. But that is not obvious unless there is a non digital set running the same show in real time in the room. I hope this vague answer is usable. JimN

My tv hasn't worked right since switching to this damned box. I wish the gov't would force some more junk on me. The old way worked perfectly good for 70 years or so. I don't see why we needed this. My picture is no better than it ever was.

Digital is the best thing I have seen the Feds do in a long, long time. When changing channels, it may take a few seconds to "read" the info but the picture clarity is worth the wait.

My Dad's TV-40" of Samsung Quality- is crystal clear with more channels of quality information than ever before.

Thank you DTV

Any background in electronics and commumications?
Try another brand of box. Some of those dtv convertors are worth less than the package they were shipped in. Have a look on the net for test results.

Tis the nature of the beastie. Signal must be run through a computer from the receiver to the TV. (Your new black box.) Takes time to process all that data. We're experiencing a real setback trying digital. Will loose some stations, others are marginal, with break-ups and nasty pauses and gaps. Often times the signal will just drop out. And yes, we know what we're doing - three ham operators in the house. Two Extra class, one General class. One is finishing senior year in computer networking, other has taught electronics and avionics on the college level. We're jusi in a marginal area, and we could live with a snowy picture, the digital is all or nothing! Thanks for nothing, FCC!
