Tractor towed yard smoothing drag

For years I have wanted to build a yard drag to smooth out the tracks in my landscaped yard to properly drain the water off to the end. There is not too much "drop" in it. Tracks hold water and create soft spots. Yesterday was the perfect warm day to make it. I laid three worn-out combine conveyer chains upside down, side by side on the floor and welded them to a 12ft length of light guage 4" box steel. For a hitch, I cut an old log chain in half (hadn't used that one in years anyway!) and welded each piece 24" opposite sides of the center point. It made a very nice, smooth surface on my yard with just one pass while the gravel was still kind of wet. It took only about an hour to weld the whole thing up.

Some times we tend to over engineer things, at least I do. Sometimes the quickest made things work the best. Stan

YUP. When I seeded the yard, I just hooked a chain on both corners of a 4' x 6' piece of chain link fence and tossed a bag of mulch on it. Worked perfectly.

I have a neighbor who uses a hog panel to cover small areas he has seeded. Pulls it behind a 4 wheeler, works good. Chris
