i have a 246 john deere planter. wonder what is the best plater for sweet corn, pumpkins, peas green beans etc. and where is the best place to get them??

Google something like linclon plates I believe it is. They sell direct to the public and have all kind of planter plate info.

While we are on the subject of seed plate's I have another ? Does anyone Know what the correct seed plate to use for sweet corn for a two row famall planter on a c farmall?

You will have to see what your kernals size is before you decide on the plates. Just find the plate that the seed will fit in the spaces without breaking or cracking the seed. Then setting planter for hill drop or drill. You dont want too thick of the population. Like 10-13 inches between plants. Are you going to fertilize then you can plant a little thicker. Your seed packet will give you directions on how thick to plant.

You'll have to use a spacer ring most likely along with the seed plate for pumpkins, sunflowers and other seeds of that nature.

Here sre the IH cast iron plates for sweet corns.

3236 A= small seed.

3237 AA= medium size seed.

3313 A = medium hybrid sweet corn.

3314 A = small hybrid.

These may be plastic. Not sure.

621833R1 = small flat sweet corn.

480190R1 = sweet corn is all the book says.

George and Gene thanks for the replies.I've been planting with the two row planter for a few years now.The plates I have in it I think are for beans. It kind of works. Some times it drops two or three seeds then it won't drop any for a while. I've just got to take the time to figure it out. We've been planting ambrosia. Still have a few bags left in the freezer. Thanks Dale.
