DUH!!How do i put together cat1 center link?

OK heres a dumb question.When you buy a after market center link from tractor supply,co-op etc. it is 2 pieces the leverage lever which is a round piece of stock with crimped places on both ends to keep it from coming out of the link or turnbuckle.How do you get this round short rod inserted in the link?
 
Yep, and if that doesn't work get a bigger BFH. The lever will probably still fall out though. You realize it's gone, when you need to adjust the top link. I lost 2 that way. I just hook an open end wrench in the hole. If I get a new top link, I'm going to weld a washer on each end of the lever so it can't come out. Dave

Tap the rod and put nuts on it to keep it from coming out,,,, near the bottom of this post is a fix I did last week

Take that piece and throw it about as far as you can then get a 3/8 bolt with a lock nut and put in there.
 
I don't think they intend it to ever be installed. You can use it to adjust the linkage if you are careful. Usually just as easy to relieve the load on the link and turn it by hand. If you need to adjust under tension, the supplied handle is too short. I have a 2 ft long bar I keep with the tractor that fits thru both holes to adjust the link. Another way to adjust it under tension is with a good pipe wrench. I have also seen flat spots on some of the aftermarket third links so you could use an adjustable (Crescent) wrench on them. DOUG
