Does any know if they ever switched to dtv? My old tv still works on analog. Just wondering. I got the box and can get more channels, which is nice, but the tv works without the box on too.

Some places have already switched. When it was extended some stations were given a exemption and could switch now because their analog stuff was in bad shape. They hadn't repaired or maintained it because they was going digital, so they was able to go ahead and go digital.
You need to check with your local stations to be for sure. I would assume if you can get stations without the converter that they haven't switched.

They moved the deadline, any station can make the switch any time before the deadline no permission needed.

By June 18th if memory serves. Get a dvt convertor or a new tv now and fine tune the bugs out of the system instead of later.
Read up on converter comparisons before purchasing. Side by side some convertors will bring in a dozen staions while a junk unit may bring in only 2 or 3.
If the antenna system doesn't have a rotor, FM pre-filter prior to the amp. And a mast mounted amp feeding through new RG-6 cable. Your system maynot provide decent signal.

Plain UHF Bow tie antennas using 300 ohm flat lead (unless in a high RFI area) work just fine. The signal is UHF so if you presently get good UHF air signal you will do even better on DTV.
