Snow in march

Hey did I get transported to the north pole or something. I woke up in my own bed in Monmouth, OR but just looked out the window and its blowing snow sideways out there.

Yeah, we had that last night and this morning in western Washington. Yer welcome to it. I'm ready for spring.

All of Saskatoon must be at the north pole. It was -29°C this morning (-20°F) with a wind chill of about -42. Golf season is about 8 weeks away. I've never seen March this cold.

Three inches of new snow here after rain all day yesterday. Now is when we get the really sharp, short storms that are plus dangerous. Dad figured that they were winter's last shots at the time of the equinox. He got lost in a snowstorm while seeding barley May 8, 1977. Only lasted 20 minutes but he had no idea where he was in the field.

It was almost warm here in Seattle around noon. When I looked out the window 15 min later it was a blizzard!! Now an hour later the sun is coming out again and the snow is melting off. Must be late winter in western Washington!

I measured 10 inches in SE NH in an area of my driveway that is shaded so it still has plenty of frost.

We had a low of 10F here in the Mission Valley this morning and had 2-3 inches of snow yesterday. The high today was 25F and it's supposed to get to -2F tonight. Every time I take my snow blade off the Ferguson so I can drag the pastures, it snows the next day and I have to put it back on. The wife says if I leave it on it won't snow. So I didn't on Thursday after I plowed the lanes and it snowed on Sunday. Another weather theory bites the dust!
I hope the old March adage "In like a lion, out like a lamb." holds true this year.

We had a day time high today of 1 above. And they are worried about global warming. Supposed to snow some tonight and tomorrow. Snow in March is normal in a normal year. Usually a real wet snow but at 0 for a high tomorrow don't think the snow will be very wet.

Biggest snowstorm of the year heading for most all of MN. Not looking forward to it at all. Cows are calf pretty steady right now. Averaging a calf born about every 36 hours or so. Got 5 inside the barn waiting, 2 that calfed today are insaide, 5 outside in a corral right next to the barn that could come any time, and 11 babies outside with their mothers near the loafing barn. There is a shelter for them to go in out there, just hope they do. About 25 more that are due in the next 2-4 weeks too. Supposed to get 12-16 inches of snow, then 40 mph winds, then the temps drop down to -18 by Wednesday morning. NASTY!!

March seems to be when we get our biggest snows in Central Oh. Last year this time we had a record snow of 20". This year it will almost be impossible to get anything of significance since it's so warm. 70 degrees a couple of days ago.

Fred,Isn't the last snow of the season in July on Rainier and the first one in August?

Must be that cold air that keeps dropping down. I'm a bit surprised at how consistently cold it was this year, we got the usual extremes, slightly below zero, week at a time, mostly teens and 20's, few years prior we had quite a few temperature swings, causing high winds, heavy downpours and other similar weather events. I can remember it was 70 in early January a few years ago, '05-'06 I was outside and marveled at the fact I could take a walk in Jan. around our place here in a t-shirt. We had a lot of warm air pushing up, then the usual weather events when the cold air came back, really crazy weather sometimes.

This year, the bottom dropped out in November and it's been consistently cold since, but I like that cold air coming in, same pattern we saw in the summer of '07, cold air/high pressure system if that is the correct way to describe it, where we got a lot of sunny dry days, rain every week or 2, perfect haying weather, be nice to see some of that again.

March can bring some heavy snow storms, most probably remember the one in '93, I spent a lot of time pulling people out of ditches with the old K-10 chevy and tow chain, down in NJ where I worked, also shuttled people home, that truck was great in deep snow.
