There is a early model chevy corvair coupe ,parked in front of an empty house in this town.Has a good body and glass .Been there quite a while.Don,t know about engine, except looks like its all there what would it be worth if the owner could be found???????????

I know where there is a running example for $300... needs interior work, paint, and tires due to sitting so long, though...

I only ever offer $crap price for unknown stuff like that, if I find that it's too bad condition, I should be able to get my money back, except for my time.

All this talk about Corvairs reminds me of when Corvair came out with a fancy, hi po model called a "Monza" in 1961.

I owned a '57 Mercury at the time, and one day I squared off against a Monza ragtop at a stoplight in Morehead City, NC. I smoked him.

BTW, I was towing a boat at the time. This guy was so frosted, he wouldn't even look over at me at the next light.

I had one years ago. Carry a new fan belt extra with you. lol Also one torch bottle so you can heat that dang thing in winter and see out your front windows cause their frosted up bad while driving. lol Would not own one if you gave it to me in good condition. Bye

Not a problem if it has the optional gasoline-fired heater and defroster. My 1960 and 61 both have it.

I also remember the Corvair Spider as a high performance version that came out around '63 or so. Seems it was either supercharged or turbocharged. Monza had the brushed rear aluminum facade like the Impala's. Wasn't '57 the year Mercury had the "turnpike cruiser" model? I don't know of anything other than maybe a Chrysler 300 or a Dodge Polara that would even come close to it back then.

Not too many turbo Corvairs around. Tim Allen has a Yenko Corvair that he races. I think Corvairs are the first Yenko modified Chevs. The later ones were considered one of the most beautiful looking cars made. They are kind of neat and I think they were proven not to be as unsafe as Ralph Nader said they were. Dave
