posting in order

I know it doesn't really matter but i don't understand why we can't figure out how to post in order. If you hit the reply at the bottom of the last post then you post after that post if you just hit reply then you come after the lead post. Sure is hard to follow a conversation sometimes when posts are all over.

I'm no computer wiz kid, but I'd wager the "problem" is that some are posting in Traditional View, while others are posting in Modern View.

Anybody know if I'm right about that?

I'm guessin' that has something to do with it. A lot of the "out of order" posts that I see in classic view also seem to indicate that they are a response to somebody who has no post in the thread.

It is the forum software and the fact that the owner of the website is keeping the "classic view" available.

Every other message board I visit has a much more user-friendly format. I don't visit here all that often anymore mainly due to how impossible it is to figure out who's talking to who in a thread!

Makes name calling easier. You can reply to somebody elses boneheaded reply without offending the original poster.

It is the forum software that causes the problem.

On the classic side you are allowed to post a reply to either the main question OR you can post a reply to one of the replys already there by choosing what button you click on.

On the modern side it does not matter who you reply to your post will always show up as a reply to the main question because it just gets added to the bottom of the list.

Dave, that is the way that I do it. I usually like to include the name of the person that I am replying to in case someone else replies to the same person and my post is kicked down one or more spots. That way people will know who I am responding to. Another thing that I didn't notice right away is that when you are typing your reply, if you scroll up you can see who you are responding to and what they said in their post..

If you use the modern view then you can hit quote and even edit it to the part you are commenting on so everyone knows what bonehead you are referring to.

Tire guy, that looks like a good way to do it. I haven't tried the modern view yet. The thing that I don't like about doing it that way is that I do not receive an email notification if I have it checked and someone replies to me. Once everything goes down a page I may not see it again and miss getting chewed out.) If I wouldn't have checked back I would have missed your post. Sometimes I get an email notification when someone posts a reply several days later.

I have never used the email notification since I have trouble keeping the box free of clutter anyhow. Since the the replies are in order of postings and the titles are different colors I can check pretty easy if a post has been answered. My preference.

It's caused as previously stated from the cross action of Modern & Classic views. I'm posting this on Modern at the very bottom and I believe it will end up next to top on Classic view.
