john deere running temp

Buicks numbers are correct, you just have to have the shutters buttoned down pretty tight to see those numbers. I have a 46 A that has no shutters but with cardboard over the radiator it still has a hard time getting up to 190.

yup. i go closed shutters on mine & move snow, wont get off cold so I installed a 2.5" ball valve in lower hose & keep shut till i get to about 190-200 then SLOWLY open it just barely & it drops right down to 170 or so depending on air temp. if warm out it still works great to speed warm-up time. oil stays cleaner too. when below zero alot I can run an hour sometimes without even opening it if loaded light. then it cools much slower after shutdown too which helps prevent moisture condensing in those 2 huge holes.

No, the A never had a thermostat. The 60 was the first to use a stat, originally it was hooked up directly to the shutter so engine temp opened and closed the shutter automatically. That idea didn't work well, it would seize up to easy and over heat so then they went to the more modern style inline stat.
