Cannot find a serial number! There is NAA number on right side of transmission housing and on left side of differential housing. Think maybe motor has been changed in past - maybe 600 series motor. Any easy way to tell the difference?

the serial number is stamped on a flat area on top of the bell housing behind the starter may have to scrap some paint to read it

If in fact it is an NAA not and early Jubilee the serial number is on the left side on a flat spot below the battery box. Over years it get covered up with paint and grease and can be hard to read. I use carb cleaner and rags to clean that area because there stamped in there and if you use things like sand paper etc you can rub them away

Thanks Ted, I had looked there but had about given up until your reply, then I went back and took the governor rod off and with carb cleaner and steel brush I uncovered it. NAA 07188 - that makes it an early '53 model I think. Appreciate the help.

Thanks Old and Ericlb for the replies, I had already rubbed there until I had about wore a hole in it and about decided it had been sanded off in the past, but as it turned out it was an earlier model with the number at front left of block. Appreciate the help.
