A freind sells some on ebay and latly has had a lot of 0 or low feedback bidders and they deadbeat. Wondering if its a problem with other online sale auctions and what the options are. Just seems like there is a lot of it this winter.
#2 What would happen at a real live auction if th high bidder just went home and bowed out? Bet it has happened before.

I was at a farm last week that the guy bought from the auctioneer when there had been a dead beat purchaser. Guy who bought it gave a cold check for the down payment, had ordered lime and fertilizer and got it spread, the works. Didnt have two nickles to rub together. Auctioneer talked this guy into taking it for his last bid.

I've been selling on ebay for over 5 years, I got 100% pos feedback. I have to work at it though. It just don't happen. Communication is the biggest and most important thing a seller has to do with the customer.
As for dead beat bidders I've never had any.

I have seen at live auctions where the highest bidder changed his mind then told the auctioneer and they resold it if they next highest bidder didn't come forward. Giving a bad check is another story.

I agree with John B. I've been selling on e-bay for six years with 100% positive feed back and communication is your biggest asset.I only had one deadbeat buyer, claimed he didn't make the purchase but thru e-mails from me he decided he would not like what he was doing to me and payed for his purchase. He even admitted to changeing his mind on his purchase not that he didn't make the purchase which was his original claim.

We have Amish in the area that do the same thing. Go to sale and buy the farm without having any financing lined up. Really ticks me off. Went to one sale and it was a young guy and an Amish man bidding on the farm. The young guy dropped out and the Amish man got it. THe Amish man paid the down payment, but couldnt get financing. He found someone else in the Amish community that would take it so they just had the new guy buy it.

I have 100% feedback but unlike the others I have had a fair share of deadbeats. You just have to relist and then get your final value fees refunded.
