My wife Dixie owned and ran a commercial hatchery for Ostrich eggs. The hatchery had been shut down before we were married. The two large commercial incubators that cost around 5 grand each were only used two years. We moved them from Oklahoma to Ohio and have no plans now to ever use them. I have no idea as well how or where to get rid of them. Would anyone here have any imput. The way I understand they turn the eggs automaticly. What ever that means.

You might look into restaurants, Dick. I'd expect an ostrich egg would take up most of a 12" skillet, certainly bigger than your ordinary kitchen spatula. The turning feature was probably somethin' designed to keep from breakin' the yolks for the folks that like theirs over easy.

Yolks for the folks! Did I say that?

I think that incubators for ostrich eggs are special equipment. However, I would not be surprised if they are modified chicken incubators. Only the oscillating (turning) egg holders may be different. So, a commercial chicken operation might be interested in them. The conversion to chicken eggs may just be a matter of swapping off the shelf parts.
If they are very old, the controls (electronics) may be outdated, rendering them commercially useless.
My 2 cents. Hendrik from The Netherlands.

I have then out in my factory warehouse. I will go out and get the numbers. I will bring my camera tomorrow and take some pictures.

(quoted from post at 09:42:49 02/24/09) Half way thru the hatching process should make a larger breakfast.

I had ostrich a time or two. Pretty good stuff. Don't know about a half done one though............ I'll be looking at my eggs real good for awhile now...

It means.. both birds hatch the eggs, the egg is against torso therefore the top of egg is hotter than bottom.
at change of shift birds turn the eggs to equalise.
Machine emulates this .
