I have been looking for info on my industrial 140 high clearence it has a high and low transmission with 4 speed's in each. The tractor was painted yellow originally and painted wonderful brush red over top. Not sure what the tractor was built for. It does feel a little odd passing cars way up high but it feel's good this is the fastest tractor I have ever drove.

Where is the dual range gear set? Is it between the clutch and transmission, in the rear axle housing, or in the transmission like some six speed Olivers?

between the clutch and transmssion. The shifter for the high low it is to the right of the shifter for the transmission.

Wardner,

This is obviously an OVERDRIVE for highway dept. tractors.....too speed up transit from one mowing job to the next along the road. Not to say something similar couldn't be made to do the opposite, but evidently, this ain't it!

Mark,

If the input and output of the aux gearbox are configured the same, it only needs to be turned end-for-end for a significant speed reduction.

It would seem to be an aftermarket item. I can't imagine the legal and engineering departments of IH would allow such an unsafe vehicle to be built. And it is an elevated tractor no less. I would like to see a picture.

Wardner there was a machine shop in Wisc that redone the Bs for the GINESING crops and i seen one that had a reduction gear box in the bell housing. The shift lever came out of one of the threaded holes beneath the gas tank. The shift lever was beside the regular shift lever. Couldnt get any details as the owner just bought it to show all the changes they made for the crop. Would be neat to have one that reduced the speed of the drive into the tranny.
