Spring Is Getting Closer

Wife and I went to Alton, Ill for the weekemd and met her brother and his wife there. Saturday afternoon I drove over to Mo to gas up. River bottom ground behind gas station, so I drove in a ways to look around, saw this rig running so I snapped a quick shot. Driving home Sunday we started seeing snow about Morton, Ill. Hang in there, spring will get here one of these days. Chris

Spring always comes -- as per your picture, why is it farmers use such a BIG Tractor for such small jobs, do they have lots of money for gas, or are they brain dead.

We have decent light here at 6:30 in the morn and the sun isn't down till close to 6:00 pm so we're gaining. I'm sure you livestock guys are enjoying it.

At my place the field cultivator is probably still frozen down where it's been parked for the last year. Have a good one. Jim

nope their not brain dead, actually thats not a small job, he needs the duals and the weight plus the horsepower to pull that impliment, or the tractor will just spin the wheels, the tractor might be slightly big, but not by much

Those old Versatiles sure are UGLY! Looks like they pull a lot and I think mechanically they are a pretty tough tractor. With the big snow storm that started yesterday and is still going stronger than ever here in Vermont, spring doesn't look like its coming anymore! Everything that had started to get thawed out in milder temperatures is re-buried in snow.

I didn't stop him to measure the width of the field cultivator, but it looked close to 30'. Just how small of a tractor do you think will pull it? Your M? 706? 4020? The tractor might be a little big, but not that much. Did you see a cloud of black smoke coming out the exhaust? Yes, he was moving right along. Duals all around, better traction, less compaction. Engine running under normal load, less fuel used. Ugly old dog, but it can be bought for less than 1 payment on a smaller new tractor. Looks like a great setup to me. Chris
