Oil seal removal

I posted this in the Massey-Harris board, but, to this point, have not gotten any responses.
My 44 Massey-Harris standard has a leaky oil seal on the belt pulley shaft. I have removed the shaft assmebly from its housing, but I am having trouble getting the collar and oil seal off the shaft. Do I need a hydualic press, or is there some other way to accomplish this? Any help would be much appreciated

In automotive repairs, we'd puncture the old seal with a sharp tool, then insert a sheet metal screw into the hole, tighten it up, and pull with vise-grips, to remove it. Some of the time, we'd just pry it out with a aharp screw-driver. Don't use either method, if you don't have a new seal to replace it with!

..and if by chance you pull the metal screw out..use a small picking chisel and collapse the side of the seal towards the middle, this decreases the circunference of the seal and it will pull out..be patient a big crewdriver makes a good pry tool, the more you can collapse the seal the easier it will come out but be patient, I've done a few that took the better part of an hour because I didn't want to damage the ball bearing cage immediately behind it
