The weather is crappy today, but the temperature isn't bad,so I figured if nothing else,I could run a bunch of fat cattle in the barn and put them over the scale to try to put together a load for Monday. I was working alone of course. Hung a clip board up by the scale monitor next to the head chute lever. I'd read the scale, write it down then trip the chute. They'd go out the front, down the alley and out the door. Some of them were wandering back in,nosing around everything. I had about a dozen weighed, went to drive another one in the chute and one up front grabbed the paper in his mouth. I took in after him,but he didn't drop it. Must have ate the d@mned thing,I never did find it. Soooo, all those cattle, weighed, back out the door and I don't have a clue what they weighed now.

I figured you would have went to Portland to spend some money at the auction today. I didn't go to that one but went to the water buffalo dairy auction up to Fremont.

I saw something similar happen at a sale barn. A guy was trying to sell some goats, but they kept eating the number stickers off each other. So they put ear tags on the goats and gave the guy his receipt, one of the goats grabbed the paper out of his hand and ate it. Wonder why he was selling them???

joe, several years ago vietnam was becoming overrun with rats because the people were eating too many cats. true story. jim

There is or was an eaterie in PingTung, Taiwan that had a cage full of live snakes. You could pick out the one you wanted and they'd kill it and cook it for you.

I don't know of any round-eyes (Americans) who took them up on it.

I was gonna go,but I got wet enough just doing chores in the morning. Staying off the road and inside seemed like a whole lot better idea.
