Went to a farm supply store the other day. They had 6v tractor batteries on sale as well as 1 gal. jugs of paint thinner which was $2.00 cheaper than normal and I wanted to refill my parts washer. I wheeled up to the checkout with 23 gals. of thinner and a battery not thinking about it , the clerk looked over my purchase and asked what are you going to do with this? I replied "dump it into my parts washer" Sounding as though she wasn't sure if she should believe me she said " well we have a list of things we need to ask about" Had I thought about I would have got some lithium batteries, acetone, either and sudafed to really get them going! a friend said "good thing you didn't or you might have gotten visitors", I replied that I don't get much company on the farm and it would be nice to have visitors! :)

Those labs are bad news. It's amazing people would put that stuff in their body, meth is the worst drug you could ever use. We had a Motel 6 burn down last week from electric lines blown down. They found a lab on the first floor in a part that didn't burn, along with $65,000 in cash.

Doesn't shock me. Anymore if you go to Wal-Mart or something and if you buy a paint can or over the counter drugs you have to show your ID...

When I worked at menards awhile ago we used to have to follow people and get their license plate number when they bought toulene. And every week a police officer would pic up the info.

Back in the 50s and 60s the feds kept an eye on sugar purchases and sales of glass jars and lids in hopes of catching bootleggers. Sometimes it was a little amusing to people who were doing a lot of home canning. I wonder how many bootleggers or present day dopers are actually caught by these spy on the consumer programs.

I was doing a small discing job in a fancy housing development. I saw a marijuania plant with a path leading to it from the closest house, about in the middle of the field. I left the plant standing. It stuck out like a sore thum. I'm sure someine had to do some explaining when Dad saw it. Stan

Thats funny, did you have a turbin on your head? Bought a pocket knife a walmart one day had to have ID to get it. I just wanted a cheap knife to cut open hay bales with. Its not like I was gonna jump on flight 975 out of Albany and hijack the plane! They are going way to far with this homeland security crap. To little to late. Seems to me there going after the American people instead of the terrorsts..,..

When I worked for the USDA in the early 80's I found a big patch of "ditch weed" Well I thought I would be funny and cut down about 5 or 6 of the 8' plants and stuffed them in the back of my little government car. Took them back to my boss at the ASCS (for the old timers here) office. My boss about had a cow!! I just figured that since I was "From the government and here to help" that I could not get into trouble. Well, we made a quick trip to the dumpster.

I still think it was funny

The stores on the North side of town don't carry 4 cup coffee filters (or sold out when I need them) so when I was at Wal-Mart I bought three packs of them. I was expecting to get hasseled at checkout but no probelms. Now, if I had bought three packs of 12 cup filters it may have been different? David............

They are going after 'we the people'. Bush started with the homeland security crap & external_link finishes it off with a financial wrap-up & we're in a strait-jacket from which there is no escape.

Have you tried to buy any oven cleaner lately? I couldn't find any. They took it off the shelves cuz it is used in meth labs.

I have heard lots of moonshine stories, down your way. There was a Highway Patrolman named Townsend, IIRC, that was always chasing them, and caught a bunch..

Any one claim the cash yet? lol I am running a bit short these days trying to pay Doctor bills.
Hummmmm Sure could use some cash like that. *S

There was a Townsend patrolman in Woodruff, SC. Retired and passed away now.

Last fall I was down on the creek bottom pushing some dead trees with the 966 and had liquid start pouring out of the tractor. I cut the tractor off, realized it was the rear tire, and the tractor wouldn't start. Walked to the house, got battery cleaning tools and went back on my atv. While cleaning the cables I kept hearing this helicopter flying close to me going in circles. Still couldn't start tractor and left, while going out in the field, this helicopter is flying circles around me. It finally left (20 -30 circles) and I went to the house. Next thing I know is there are 30 law enforcement cars in my yard accussing me of shooting the helicopter (it made CNN news). FBI, GBI, FAA 2 local sheriff depts., and 2 different city police. It seems that since I had been hauling water everyday to my cows, that I had to be raising drugs. Since the helicopter didn't find anything by air, one of the spotters in the copter made up a storey about the copter being hit so they could do a foot search. Their internal affairs dept. realized this 2 weeks later, appoligized to me and fired the spotter.

And if you had given that pocket knife to your kid to cut the bales when he feeds in the morning, and he forgot to take it out of his pants when he went to school, he'd have been expelled for bringing a weapon to school.

Unless it was at a small high school in Montana that I read about once- That happened to a kid, and principal knew he was a ranch kid- he hadn't threatened anyone or even shown it around- it fell out of his pocket accidentally- so principal declared the pocket knife to be a tool rather than a weapon, told the kid to pick it up on his way out that afternoon, and asked the kid to please be careful not to bring tools to school in the future.

When I first bought my house I didn't have a stove or money to get one so I just used an old Prentiss Wabers gasoline stove I had. They are an early day camp stove like a coleman. So here I am every week at Wally World buying several cans of coleman fuel so I could cook meals and heat water. I noticed I was getting some strange looks with what I had in the cart. At the time I had no idea what the heck meth was since there wasn't much mention of it in Indy, but the little town I moved to had plenty of labs and dopers running amuck. They finally got around to busting them all and now things are pretty quiet now. One pickup truck (portable lab) got pulled over right in front of my house and they had the tarps out and all those ding dongs "cooking supplies" spread out and the street blocked for 2 hours while they delt with the mess. If you go in the winter time when the weeds are down and look over the side of any county road bridge around here, there are thousands of empty sudafed packages thrown over the side. Sad!

You are lucky the feds didn't plant 'evidence' so they could arrest you and confiscate your property.
The cretins at the Federal Bureau of INCOMPETENTS consider themselves to be above the law, accountable to no one. They no more 'fired' the spotter, than I did, in all probability, he probably got a commendation.
Law 'enforcement' is NOT your friend, they are always looking for an angle to take the easy way out, fabricating evidence, lying under oath, covering up for each another, and lining their own pockets by the use of illegal search and siezure, questionable warrants, or whatever is accepted practice, just another way of doing business, the good ol boy network at its finest.

Our local farm store advertised starting fluid on sale last SUMMER. One of the companies who has a lot of diesel equipment sent a female clerk in to buy 120 cans to have on hand when it got cold. It took several hours and a visit from the company lawyer before they released her. I never buy more than one or two cans at a time as I just don't want the hassle. DOUG

Trying buying just one pack of AAA battries at our super walmart ,it's like the Nazi SS has come back from the dead

I've been trying to find lye to use in an electrolysis tank for removing rust. Seems I can't get it anywhere. Is this something the dopers are using too ?

I was in a Safeway one time when some native people were trying to buy 5 bottles of Lysol cleaner... with a food voucher from welfare! They said they had lots of cleaning to do. The clerk would only sell them 1, which I thought was wrong too. Dave
