Fuel Tax

I see that (REP) Ray LaHood Transportation Secretary is pushing for a Total Vehicle Mileage Tax to replace the Federal Fuel tax. This involves a monitoring/tracking device installed in EVERY Vehicle on the road. It would take away much of the incentive to conserve fuel. Constant watch and location of every vehicle?? What do you think?? Why is this a good alternative??? Please be civil to each other!!! OPINIONS???

Didn't you read what tlak posted? Obamma nixed that mileage tracking idea. Why are an awful lot of you folks against Obamma? He's th first president in 8 years that's trying to help the little guy.

There would be little incentive to drive an efficient Prius over an thirsty Escalade not to mention the big brother is watching aspect. I write off 40 to 50 k a year so needless to say I hope it dies.

Helping the little guy? Not hardly! His plan to fix all these bad mortgages came from Clinton's Community Redevelopment Act. What do you think giving judges the authority to reduce the principal balance, reduce the payment amount, extend a 30 year out to 40 years is going to do to interest rates and qualifications to even get a loan?
In one month, external_link has doubled government spending. Why should I have to fork over more of my pay in taxes to help some one out who bought/payed too much for a house they can't make the payments on? 6 months after going through bankruptcy, 90% of these people will be in the same place again.

I don't like the idea one bit. The way it is now, we have incentive to run as economical vehicle as possible. That idea would certainly hurt me as a rural mail carrier with all the miles I run every day. I also heard they are thinking about installing GPS to keep track of the miles in the license plate. Does that mean we will get a speeding ticket also if we go a mile or two over the speed limit? Too much big brother for me. DOUG

external_link's only for the little guy, if you're on welfare. Look at his "tax cut." What can you do with $13.00 a week? It's all about control. If the states, banks, etc. take government money, they'll have to tow the line and submit to "The Annointed One's" plan. That's why he doesn't have bi-partisiship. The nnalert finally found their balls and told him to take a hike.

With the billions they are tacking on us now and the trillions that Bush donated to this country there is no way it can be paid for without taxes raised or new ones added. It's not possible to pay that much under the present conditions even if we get thru this mess. I have been saying for a long time--The people in this country USA arte and have been spoiled for too long. Everybody wants everything for nothing, and that means more taxes no matter how you look at it.

Don't put ALL the blame on these people, the ones who should be saddled with it are the Institutions who thought of the system and ran with it, also the Fed Govt.{Bush in particular} who never bothered to put in controls and gave business free rein. They have now successfully bu^^ered the World.

Your correct it does not say anything about GM or Crysler. However the original post talked about tracking devices in cars and the whole "Big Brother" thing. It does talk about that. Its all coming together and is starting to really make sence. The Bible clearly says there will be a time when everyone will have to have a mark (computer chip or whatever) to be able to buy or trade anything. Think about it we are already using plastic cards to buy things. With a quick push of a button they can see what you buy, where you buy, and how much you buy. We already have chips in our pets that give all their information. They are also having them put in humans for medical info. Some people think thats great,but its only a sign of what is to come. Also the Bible clear about when and were the end (or focus)will be at(location). Watch the news its over their were all the oil is. What is the big topic or focus on these days? Oil.. There are many other things that could be talked about. I don't want this post to turn into a conflict. We have way too much of that already. I shouldn't of said anything because I'm sure it will turn into something negitive,but I felt I should say something. Too many people are in the dark.
