Early W-6's

I have heard many people talking about 'Channel Frame' and 'Cast Frame.' They say that early W-6's had a cast frame while later versions had a channel frame. All the W-6's I see have a cast frame. I have NEVER seen a regular, old W-6 have a channel frame, but I have seen Super W-6's and other Supers with ONLY channel frames. Why is this? Also, why did IHC decide to use 5-spoke wheels for the Super -6's? Is it correct to use a 3-spoke wheel for a Super -6?

The change was made during the Super years. You will only find cast W6's, but can find cast and channel Super W6's.
