My son is leaving Iowa going to N.Calif. pulling his 96 Cherokee Jeep...
Was wondering if there would be anything we need to do... ??
It is 4 wheel drive w/a Auto. trans. ... planning on putting it in N. and make sure the steering will move..

THANKS in advance.... Mark

Janicholson, is Right! Disconnect D Shaft or a New transmission will be In Order, Should be OK otherwise. Larry KF4LKU

I don't have the manual to look at now but I think it showed that you could tow it fine with the transfer-case in neutral.

Chris,

It's clear from his post that the Dutchman intends to use a tow bar and pull with all four wheels on the ground.

That said, I still don't understand how you can damage a rear end just by towing a vehicle in an uphill attitude (i.e. by using a dolly). As long as there's oil in the rear end, the ring gear is going to sling it all over the place. Can you please explain?
