New Holland 4835??

What can you guys tell me about a 1997 Ford-New Holland 4835?? Cab, New Holland loader, MFWD, 12x12 trans, with about 2300 hours. Were these decent tractors?? I'm not familar with the 35 series at all....what about power/engine?? I've got a Ford 4830 currently thats rated at 62 pto hp, but I think this 4835 is a little smaller. Any opinions?? Looks to be a pretty clean tractor, but I've only seen pictures. What's a fair price?? Thanks

Casey

Its a Fiat built unit, one of the first after the merger. It became the TL series with hardly any changes and is now sold under another model number.

They are a good machine but NH sold them with a monster loader option (52LC ?), so a lot of folks broke front axles. One I looked at was used in a scrapyard to move trucks. The owner said he could pick a caddy up high enough to dump it in the crusher.

They are a fairly basic and haven't changed much. Used to be sold mostly with a hi-lo and dry clutch, now the hi-lo is only on the wet clutch power reverser models.

It's got a 7310 loader on it and is suppose to have the reverser. I'm gonna call about it just as soon as I get a chance...they're asking $24,900...any idea what motor is in it??

Some have the left hand mech shuttle, some have the power reverser. The ads usually aren't clear. If it is the power reverser that isn't a bad price. The mech shuttle models are priced near that usually.

A lot of these units were used in roadside mowing for some reason.

As for the engine, tractordata says 3.6L. I think the TL's moved to the 3.9L that seems to be in all the NH and Case models.

This one appears to have came off the farm as it"s got a bale spear on the loader. No glass is broke on the cab either and looks to be a really clean tractor. Of course when I go to look at it I"ll probably find out that it"s never had the oil changed or some crap like that. Thanks for the info though. I am kinda curious how it"ll compare to my old 4830 for power. Transmission wise it"s light years ahead of my old 8x2....

With out digging out my sales lit, (I have the 35 series piece) the 4835 were about 56 PTO HP.

It should have "Ford" on it under the New Holland

I've run 35's and TL's, including a 1997 6635. Great tractor. the 7310 loader is ok, but I don't care for the bucket QA on them, sort of cheap, ran three 7310 loaders on 3 tractors, all of them were messed up in the QA, and all of the loaders had multiple spear/forks/buckets for them. Not all 7310's had the QA, some were pin on.

Never had the loader off the tractors, so no comment on that.

12x12 with stick to the left of the seat is fine, lots of usable speeds. the 35's had the 24x12 dual power as option, the 12x12 were 30 km/h trans. The trans seems really heavy, and feels like it has big syncros in both the shuttle and gear lever.

The TL70A is the direct replacement, not sure if it's sold in North America at this time. I've seen a few TL70's advertised.

I agree with Ken, the 52 loader looks overkill on it.The 7310 was actually "built up" with mounts to go on the TL's.

I would buy it if you like it.
