856 power steering

I think I should have put some more info in there the steering on my 856 has always worked fine it has set in the barn for a few months tryed to use it today and the steering wheel turns but the wheels do not and the brks feel soft everything work good when i parked it and it has always worked good in the cold any one have any ideas

I had exact same problem. Had to replace the pump to fix. try everything else first as pump is not cheap.

Had the same problem when I changed the hyd.filter last spring. No steering or brakes. Tried what everyone and service manual suggested. Nothing seemed to work. Thought I would hook a 4x8 cylinder up to hydraulic couplers and see if that would get things going. At first nothing happened when I moved the hyd. lever back and forth. After approx. 5-6 times back & forth I heard the pump pick up oil and the cylinder started to work. Seemed to have air in it but soon was gone. Checked the steering and brakes and they worked too. Don't know if this solved the problem or a coincidence the steering pump may have finally picked up the oil, but it still works today.
