OT- Electric Vehicles

I was driving down a busy street last week when it was -10 outside and this electric car pulls up beside me. It got me to thinking, how do they get heat in them when it is so cold outside? Heat pump-resistance heater?

And also AC in 110* heat in Tx. I'll bet neither and if you do it cuts way down on the few miles you get from a full battery

Don't want to hijack your thread, but how are the present hybrids doing regarding battery pack replacement and cost? Prius was supposed to get about 80,000 miles out of its initial battery pack, with a cost of a couple thousand to replace it (many were hoping technology would bring the cost down by the time they needed replacing). Anybody know how long the batteries acutally lasted, and actual cost of replacement?

I've heard the toyotas are getting better than 150,000 mi. out of the batteries, but their more like $6,000 to replace.
