i lost electricity about 6:30 this evening due to high winds coming threw southeastern ohio they said around 60mph winds if not higher was off 4 days the last ice storm we had and off 6 days when ike came threw last fall. oh well one of the downfalls from living out in the good ole bfe. but i wouldnt trade it for anything itll come back on some day and in the meantime the ole welder/generator will keep me in the light. Yep! Got home about 4:30 to no electricity. Central Illinois. On genset now. Good luck I think we both will need it. Could make for a long night.

So far.."knock on wood" have not lost it this year. But have lost it for the last two winters for at least a week. ...Was ready for it but it did not come so far.

Where are you at? I'm in far west peoria county and we are on ameren-cilco. Some of us out here have done some calling and complaining about the condition of the lines and trying to get things fixed that were obvioulsy in need of attention, loose wires, bad poles, insulators loose on poles, bad wires. They have been out and fixed these things. The squeaky wheel gets greased! We lost power the coldest night of this winter for 6 hours because they hadnt done needed maintenance and that really got my attention. I understand things break but they had been very poor about keeping things in shape. Good luck.

i am on aep electric near newconcord ohio. i live out off the beaten path on a one lane gravel road the power lines goes threw alot of woods and deep hollows therefore very prone to this type of thing.also the line ends with my house. RICK

Ours has gone off and on a couple times tonight with the high winds in west central ohio.I have a honda 6500 watt generator that does a good job,but it's kind of a pain to get hooked up,the battery is always dead and i always forget to stock up on gas.My brother in law put in one of those gaurdian generators that automatically comes on when the lights go out.I'm getting one of them next summer.

WE HAVE POWER, Glory HALLELUJEAH !,,,,,,winds reached 73 mph in Corydon In, Half the town is out ,I am told,.., Didn't really hurt much of anything here that has not already been dried up from drought , blowed away from Ike ,busted up from Ice , Floated away from the massive thaw. So whats a little wind When everything you got has been under so much sufferage ,Can't even sell out , Cause the banks Don't have nickle to lend ... wonder wants gonna happen next!

Lost power in Texas last night west of Ft Worth. Iv'e got a 10,000 watt Hobart welder Gen. I keep it plugged in and hooked to Natural Gas. It sure is a comfort. I plan to setup a remote starter on it so that I don't have to get wet to start it.

Yep I was on Gen for about 5 hours this evening. East central KY.

More trees down from the wind.

Your area sounds just like our area here in Mid Michigan. I"m on generator power tonight with 50 mph wind gusts and a sump pump coming on about every 20 minutes. We must have got about 1-2 inches of rain while I was at work that is made worse by the 10 inches of snow that melted in the last three days. Oh well, I didn"t need to actually sleep tonight!

Sounds like Michigan - Consumer's Power. NO maintenance, no upgrades, wait for the system to crash, then do minimum patches to get it back up.

Is everybody connecting their hydro service through one of these?
