The ongoing fires should be a reminder that we all survive by natures will. Please take a moments pause to consider their plight. Jim

Jim,

I have a couple "mates" down under, neither of which know each other, one in Q"land and the other in NSW. I emailed both of them and their answers almost mirrored one another. These fires are mostly the fault of the tree hugging "Greenies" as they call them. Controlled burns were not allowed by these Earth lovers and consequently......the Earth became covered in kindling, add a drought to that and temps close to 120F...it was a disaster waiting to happen.

One of my mates aid had the aborigines been in charge (hehe) none of this would have occurred...because even they knew the benefit of a controlled burn...thousands of years ago.

The damned left wing, faggot mongering, tree hugging Green Peace enviro wackos should all be taken out and given a summary execution...starting right here in our country.

the libs are are going to screw the whole earth
we have a state park about 10 miles from me that is very overgrown. lots of brush and hevay thick grass dead tress etc.
i was talking to fireman he told me the loacal fire deptment is afaird what will happen if they have a fire in there.
there are places that has so many dead trees and grass i doubt a man could walk through it

Naw.

I can certainly feel for those who are threatened or hae been harmed by the fires.

As for our "eco-friendly" friends to whom you have applied so many colorful adjectives, a better solution might be to issue them each an Indian tank and a spade, and let them go try their hand at putting the fires out.

"a better solution might be to issue them each an Indian tank and a spade, and let them go try their hand at putting the fires out."

Indeed!

Did I hear correctly on the news this morning that 200 had been killed?must be some really fast moving fires, and no transport system .that's almost unbelievable in this age.sure is a shame, heard last week where fires burnt off 10,000 acres fifty miles or so from us.sure is dry here in Okla too.

Old European "managed forest" practices not used much anymore-the old glean firewood from blowdown and timber slash replace by "let in rot and provide shelter for bugs" Green Party ideas. Menominee County in Wisconsin has tribal practice of getting firewood and long deer hunting season, considered low fire risk since not as much tinder on ground. Australia fire area has had 3 to 12(?) years of drought and has a eucoliptus (sic?) tree with a volatile oil that can burn quick- California imported the tree because it survives drought conditions and has same fire risk. News reports note some of dead were in their cars trying to escape when cauoght by flames. RN

I'd issue them a spade all right and tell them to start digging their new and final home...right before they got a bullet behind the ear.

I don't what is with people who think the earth is darned fragile that we great humans have to guard every step we make.....so we don't alter the environment. The sad thing....the Green wackos, financed by the abundant left idealists and intellectuals, have spouted this BS for so long.....the vast majority now believe it (is true). I wonder what grandiose verbiage they will offer once these fires are out and the smoke is gone and the green grass is growing again......as to how devastating these fires were to the Environment? Mount St. Helens was supposed to kill us all with it's fallout...yet the Earth recovered post haste and the fact was documented by scientists and biologists on site.

DDT was banned in the USA but remains a common insecticide just south of the border.......wonder why Mexico still has any birds left? I wonder why it remains one of the best places to go bird hunting in the Western hemisphere? I wonder why all the migrational birds that fly south to countries where DDT is regularly used...don't all die and fail to return each spring?

The reason is.......it's all BS...lies fostered by Green Peacers and other irrational groups. They have billions attempting to alter the common sense thoughts of the public and bygod....it's working!

China is supposedly one of the most polluted countries on Earth.....I wonder how they have over a Billion citizens surviving in such a enviro morass? Wait....serve me with figures supplied by the Green Peacers telling how many Chinese die hideous deaths every year from pollution.

All the whales are being killed, all the tuna is gone, New England is denuded of timber, the whole state of Nevada is a nuclear waste dump, volcano's should be outlawed and the Arctic is slated to melt down in 29 years, drowning the human race.

What a crock!

G"Day guys - I farm down under not far from one of these fires. Last week sure was hell, a week of 100f+ and it culminated on Saturday PM with a wind to match. We milked late all week, yep I am a dairy farmer, but it didnt make much difference for the cows - tongues hanging out as they walked up from their day paddock - poor things.
Fortunately the fire did not hit this valley tho heading this way until the wind changed. We have been asked to take cows from the next valley from farms which were burnt out. We are in drought and lot feeding anyway, so as long as we can source feed it doesnt make that much difference how many we handle, we have little green feed anyway.
As to the folks in the "Leafy" eastern outskirts of the city (Melbourne)that were hit so hard, nothing, absolutely nothing would stop those fires, I liken the event to a Nepalm Firestorm. The worst hit areas are home to some of the biggest Eucalypt trees about in the world. Up to now you could see the occasional skeleton of trees burnt in 1939 towering above the present 70yo forest thereabouts. Huge trees.
I have on standby as well as other equip my 1000L 3PL boomspray tank behind the 4WD tractor with high volume hose direct from the pump - Bucket on the front - to help with any spot fires that come our way. More flexable than a slipon on the back of the farm ute (Pickup) We cant rely on Tankers as they"re resources are so stretched when things get tough.
