Sourced in England and relatively popular in that area. Might be difficult to get the parts that are unique in the US. If it runs and all the important parts are there and OK, I would suggest buying it. Quite a powerful, pulling tractor in a small package.

Looks like an 1124 model to me, but can"t be certain, anyway most county tractors were based on Ford skid units, most of them on either Major or 5000 tractors, often with 6 cylinder ford engines fitted to increase horse power. Drive to the front wheels comes via drive shafts down each side of the tractor from the final drives of the rear axle, so locking the rear diff locks all four wheels together. Their only downside is a relatively poor turning circle, you do need a bit of room to turn around in, but they will pull far more than most people will think possible for a tractor of that size. County 6"s were around 100 hp. Biggest tractor they made was 1884, based on a TW35 at 180hp.

There is one of those just 5 miles from me, I saw it out raking hay this past summer. I had no idea what it was till I asked here. It looked to me like a mini IH 2+2 painted blue and grey.

My wife's cousin has three or four of those county fords. He grows celery in muk ground. He really likes them. They do real well in wet ground.

Chris: a few of them around here in northern NY--popular back in the 70's when not many people were making "big" 4wd tractors--they were some of the only rigs that were capable of getting through the huge snowfalls we get to do chores in winter. They were an absolute beast in their day, but that day was 30 years ago. From owning a Fordson Super Major, I can tell you that parts for the English-built Fords can be expensive and a bit difficult to find.

i remember seeing sale literature in rck of products when working for a ford dealer in mid 70s.
as i remember they had a super 4 and a super 6
i wondered why someone would buy one as a 8600 or 9600 had more horsepower.

Probably should have mentioned that they are rare in the Mid-West. Similar to when I stated that JD 40 combines were rare and was told that they are prevalent in Missouri.

It's hard to tell for certain, but it looks like a Ford 5000 based model with a 2700 series Dorset engine.
Ford parts won't be hard to find. Anything that County changed or modified probably will be hard to find, including the Dorset engine parts... but those can probably be found through scrounging. Mermaid claims to supply parts for those engines which they converted to marine use.
Keep in mind that County went bankrupt about 20 years ago, so there's not goig to be any help there...
