Pictures from yesterday

This is a tractor that my best friend (Russ) bought a few months back. It had broke down while chiseling a field back in 1994 or 5 and hadn’t moved since. We went and got the tractor free from the chisel, towed onto a gooseneck and brought it home. He removed the oil pan from the tractor and was surprised at how clean the cylinders were and that he could still see hone markings. He went ahead and replaced the bearings, had the head redone, replaced two injectors and had the pump professionally rebuilt. The guy that rebuilt the pump said he found a broken spring in it which is probably what caused it to die in the field and they never checked the pump out. When he got it running the transmission seal began leaking badly and that’s when we split it and replaced the seals. This is where the photos begin.

First time this tractor and this plow have worked dirt together in at least 14 years.

Not bad for finding a forgotten piece and bringing her back to life. I don’t think he has 2500 in the whole thing. I know the pump rebuilt was most expensive at 800 bucks or so. I will post more pictures as the restoration begins. Oh and it was 75 degrees here in the Brazos Valley of TX! Gotta love it. Caleb

It's a beautiful thing Caleb! I thought it was nice in the 40's here in Vermont today. I am getting excited to see talk of spring activities, and even the sighting of BBQ grills in Walmart! Whoo-Hoo below zero weather can take a hike!

I think I am going to take the summer semester off from college. I need a break and I want to take part in summer activities this year. I missed out on so much because of the nonstop homework in 2008. I couldn't even go deer hunting in the fall, which is something I truely love because of homework.

I've been so busy I have gained a bunch of weight, my skin is a bleached white from a total lack of sun, and I am sitting in chairs so long my rear and back hurts at times. My health has been going downhill a bit and I need to do something about it.

The 5020 is my favorite tractor I they look awesome when they are complete with all the side shields and loaded down with weights...forget about the paint.....ps.Caleb is the name of my oldest son...cool name

Not sure on the year and the hour meter read around 2600 and was working when I was driving it Saturday. The tractor came with a cab and all the shields on it. The cab looks kinda like a Hiniker but Im too young to know about what kinda cabs were available then and I couldnt find a name plate. Its amazing how well this tractor runs considering how it sat for so long. He doesnt want to put the cab back on it because then it wont fit in the shed. He is looking for some fenders and dust shields currently. It sure was powerful and loud! The muffler was rusted in two when we picked it up. He straight pipes everything anyway. I cant find my camera but when I do I will post the pictures of how it was sitting when we picked it up. Caleb

Cool, it could have had a Hiniker on it, mine had a Stolper but my platform is different that what yours look like. They are a heck of a tractor, I had all 4 tires loaded, it weighed in 20 pounds short of ten tons.
