Hadda spend a grand couple weeks back. Old caddy wouldn't go in zero weather. Left with instructions to change fluid and filter. Came back, tech said hadda rebuild all. Pressure was too low. I asked didn't low pressure sometimes result from filter plugging. He said never. Pressure was checked at a port before the filter. If you can't suck upany fluid, you would have low or no pressure, I think. Right or Wrong? Been about 30 years since I been into a trans even for a little thing. Thank s Dave This is 700R4 trans.

"Pressure was checked at a port before the filter."

NOT!

The filter is on the "INLET SIDE" of the pump, and the pressure check point SURE isn't AHEAD of the sump filter!

sounds like ya got ripped off rebuilds around here are at least $1400.00 if they do the work. $1000. wouldn't touch it. had 3 done in the last 5 years.
not all mine though.

Bob's right about the filter. It's on the inlet or suction side of the pump. Problem is, if the filter is plugged, what's it plugged with? Answer is your clutches and/or metal from a bushing, thrust washer, gear set that disintegrated. If the filter is plugged, 9 in 10 chances the trans has major problems.

Thanks all. Allen it's 91 RWD Fleetwood. Had it 13 years and 185 Kmiles, but maybe not too much longer. Stopped small leak and shifts better, but not perfect.
