Tranny swap

Looks like things are as little slow here today, so I will see if my tranny swap will run into trouble. I have a 80 Ford F350 with a automatic trans. about 7 years ago I came across a 4 speed trans with a engine I bought, the engine is now in the truck, connected to a auto trans so I know the trans will fit the engine. I have all clutch linkege, bell housing, flywheel. I have the foot linkege as well from a wrecking yard truck. I even have the floor board cover. Now for the big question what will I need to do to the drive shaft, and rear motor mount. I plan to change the trans when the auto trans takes a dump, if it ever does. It seams to be a fairly good automatic. Stan

Well if you can find a drive shaft at a junkyard it will be lots better than if you have to have it made.If your transmission yoke is bolted solid you need a driveshaft with a slip joint in it.It probably is that way on a standard so you need a slip joint type and the right size Ujoint to fit the differential,or plate with 4 holes in it if thats what it takes.Might be that way on both ends.If you have to use a carrier bearing look at the junk yard again for something that will fit and get the bracket that holds it and crossmember if possible because that will make it lots easier to install.
