I"m replacing the engine on my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. It has a 318 magnum in it right now. My question is: is the 1997 318 magnum the same engine as the 1998? same electical components etc?

My 97 was replaced with a 2000. They had to use the old intake manifold and the brackets on the front of the block for the AC,Alt,Power steering and such. Not sure about a 98

I have a '97 ram 1500 and a '98 durango, both with a 5.2L engine. The biggest visible difference is that the intake manifolds are different. The manifold on the '97 ram is relatively low and doesn't stick up much past the valve covers. The manifold on the '98 durango rises a good 3-4" higher. The '98 might not have the same fuel injection system. But this could also be a ram-durango difference.
