the president kind of shows you what we have in Washington at the present time doesn't he. looks like someone ought to eliminate these people before they nominate them

They oth to go through the whole bunch and find out who hasn't paid taxes, and no more of this whoops sh*t.

That would mean that they would have to change the way that they do business in D.C. Hummmm, change, where have I heard that word?

Not from a Repug, heard something the other day for the Dept of the Interior, somethings coming.

I remember the good ole days when just not paying social security on your kids nanny would get you disqualified.

I wonder how long this thread will last. They sure erased the wind power discussion fast. What was the problem with it? Jack

They will never eliminate the problem until the whole bunch is thrown out. Same names keep popping up from back in the Clinton days because life was so great then(SARCASM). Excuse me while I go puke for a CHANGE.

It's not that simple, unfortunately...
If you get "outside" people, there's a problem with their being able to get anything done: the career bureaucrats assume they'll be gone next election, they're not part of the "family", etc...
If you get the career politicians, who've had high enough offices that they know where bodies are buried, know the people they'll be dealing with, know how to cajole, pressure or bribe (not with money, but with reciprocal favors, etc) you get the "inside the Beltway" people, who've grown accustomed to ignoring the petty little laws they put us in jail for...
politics is like sausage; you don't want to look too close at the ingredients, but you hope the flavor comes out agreeable...

I've noticed those rules only apply to nnalert.
I was amazed Daschle backed out, they must have given him the warning that they didn't have the votes.

Well, tlak I must have struck a nerve when I tweaked you about change, I got you callin me names already, and I aint even made a single comment about D'aschole's withdrawal!

That"s interesting tlak. All these guys with tax problems all seem to have a "D" after their name. One of them was even given a check to pay up what he owed the IRS. Even signed a statement that stated that was what the check was for and was to be done with it. What happened? He spent it, but not on back taxes. Hmm, you think Daschle actually didn"t know that a free limo and chauffeur didn"t fall under the "gift" heading?
What"s really sad is I went to a government school and I know that kind of stuff is subject to at very minimum scrutiny.

Don't know what you're talking about with name calling.
You said where did I hear change from and I said, not a Repug. Only applies to you if you feel guilty.

"I aint even made a single comment about D'aschole's withdrawal!"
And my comment was that they should clean up all of Washington.

"D" after their name
Point was they need to look at everybody, just the Ds are under the microscope now.

Dude..You must have a crotch full of splinters.

What's your point?

Figure if I have to pay my taxes then they need to make all the DC crooks pony up.

Congress is always so quick to "launch and investigation."

Why doesn't someone launch an investigation on Congress? At the very least an IRS audit of ALL members of Congress - Rep, Dem, ALL OF THEM!

Something has to be done about the elitist attitude of politicians.

At least I heard external_link say something yesterday after being in office only 2 weeks that GW Bush refused to say in his 8 years,I SCREWED UP!

If GB had said it, the media would have harped on him to resign. This one says it, and it only shines up his halo! Only thing that needs to be said is get used to it!
