I see there are locations advertising blemished tires at very reasonable prices. I'm about to start the hunt for a set of 11.2 x 38. Don't need anything for traction, just a new set of shoes for parades. I've seen some as low as 270 each. Anyone ever run a set of blemished tires, and what did you see that made them stand out as seconds?

Bought a set for my Ariens. Good tires. The only flaw seems to be that it was a bear to mount. It didn't want to seat so I slobbered it up and overinflated it remotely in the field.

I need a set of those myself for my "40 JD B. Those are some expensive tires. I have not found any tires that size for under $280.

I don't know about tractor tires, but have had blem car tires that was just that (blemished). Nothing safety wise, just maybe a smudge on the lettering or tread from something in the mold.

The name has been buffed off and other than that they are black and round and good for thirty years in the sun.

Yes. Years ago we use to get what they called BLEMS out of the Firestone store in Columbiana O . that were actually Firestone TEST tires from the test farm Bought a bunch of them for the low end on nothing . A lot of them were used around here . The guy at the Firestone store would call when he would get a bunch in and asked if we needed any tires as he had SUCH A DEAL . He called me one day and i was in need of a new set of 15.5x38 for my 460 Farmall and he JUST HAPPENED to have just what i needed for a 100 bucks a tire including the tube Went wright over with the pickup and got them . Here was a set of 15.5x38 ALL Trac Field and Road 6 ply that were put on a test tractor and run down the road twenty miles and pulled off . To bad that they closed that store it was a great place to get farm tires.

In the industry these are called ABO tires. Stands for Appearance Blemished Only. They have a surface flaw that keeps them from being sold as #1 and will have no affect on their use. Most of the time you really have to look for the flaw. I get them whenever I can.

im getting ready to go to tire town before long and get a set myself.
shoot me an email we may be able to get you a set and you can pick them up here

Blemished tires are ones that may have not flowed in the mold right, because of the holes in the mold called "vents" may have been plugged from a previous tire and the rubber whiskers ,or teats didn't push out, causing a flow direction inside the mold to redirect to another vent sometimes causing a crack, or a blister in side wall not bad enough to junk it, so we would take them and grind out the section , replace with uncured rubber and put them in a POT " fancy name for a mold looking thing that was larger than the tire that was repaired." and cook for another 20 min.

This action made the tire a little harder than 1st grade spec,s and could not be sold as 1 st grade.

When I worked there I would buy my own tires and recook them, just to make them run longer.

If you have more questions I'll Email you. there are other repairs we made but long story.
