Don't think so, only straight weights in Detroit two cycles. Thought they had problems with top ring coking with multi-grades.

Why use a high priced oil in it, never seen one that refused any type of oil. But I always used Delo 100 [not 400] in a srtait weight.

My 1972 book stipulates MIL-L-21048B and Supplement 1 oils with following limitations.

"" 1.ZINC, as zinc diorganodithiophosphate, between a minimum of 0.07 and a max of 0.10 percent by weight.

2. Sulphated ash [ASTM D-874]of 1.00 % max by weight, except lubricants that only contain barium detergent-dispersants where 1.50 % by weight is allowed.

Contact a reliable oil supplier and obtain his assurance that his product has been tested and given good performance in DETROIT DIESEL engines.

An SAE 30 oil is recommended for year round use."" end.

Not sure, but you better check the amount of zinc in the new Shell Rotella, because I think it has been reduced. Tom

You want to use Delo in a 2 stroke.I dont know what the difference is but Shell Rotella is made for Cummins,Cat,and the new 4stroke Detroits.Something about the 2 stroke Detroit likes Delo better.
