OT: 1995 Suburban turn signal

my suburban just started doing this when i make a left turn the signal clicks on twice as fast as normals. The right goes on pause off pause, the left goes on off on off. i thought it was a bulb burn't out, nope. then i replaced the flasher with a new one from GM, no no change. i hear the clicking coming from in behind the dash near the radio, is it a relay, could this be the cause.

any one experience the same problem on there suburban or chev truck?

If you are positive that all the bulbs are ok even the dual element bulbs, than it is probable the turn signal lever assembly. I have installed a few that have the same symptoms that you are having.

i'd still bet you got a bad bulb somewhere. we see it now and then at the shop, and it turns out one bulb will drop a filament and short, usually in the two filament lamps. turn your park lamps on and check them real good. look for one that is either a little brighter or dimmer than its counterpart on the other side of the truck. then turn the signals on, see if the dash illumation lamps blink (gauge lamps, courtesey ect) thats a sure indication. last resort would be to change out the bulbs on that side, or you can switch them with the opposite side bulbs one at a time. if they start working, you found the bad bulb.

Had a similar issue on my '94. Changed all bulbs and started working properly again. All lights seemed fine, but as somebody mentioned must have a short somewhere.

Good Luck, Bulbs are cheap and easy. Hope that is what it is for you,

Kirk

I hope for his sake it isn't the turn signal stick, I replaced the one on my 96 Sierra for 470.00 not counting labor.

I have had a lot of trouble rear lights on with my 88 chevy pickup. The turn signal/back-up/brake lights would work sometimes and not work others. The light sockets are a one piece plastic casting with steel runners that rust out. The after market replacements are cheaper but have intermittent contact with the bulbs causing lights to work/not-work. The gm parts are expensive but are more reliable. All the bulbs always checked out so it was tough to trouble shoot. Need to wiggle the bulbs and see if they go on & off. Good luck! joe-

I heard about a blond once that put her turn signal on to pass a car. When the signal didnt turn itself off as she pulled back into her lane in front of the car, she went right into the ditch.

check rear bulb socket for corrosion...happens all the time on my motor home....
And figure this- when the right bulb starts acting funky, the left turn signal applies my trailer brakes! If I get out and whack the right rear turn signal with my hand (or remove the lense and bulb and clean it), all is well!

electrons are funny things!
