HOUSTON - Exxon Mobil Corp. on Friday reported a profit of $45.2 billion for 2008, breaking its own record for a U.S. company, even as its fourth-quarter earnings fell 33 percent from a year ago.

The previous record for annual profit was $40.6 billion, which the world's largest publicly traded oil company set in 2007.

I was going to say Exxon might be a good stock to buy then, but if 4th quarter profits were down 33%,might as well leave the money in the mattress.

I saw on the local news that a dog pound put an ad in the paper to hire somebody,a dollar more than minimum wage, and 150 people came to put an application in for that job.I hope nobody knows where you live, you might have 150 people waiting to break in if they think you keep money in your mattress.

Don't just pick the last quarter look at as a whole, earnings down, record profit, you should feel as if you are being ripped off.and aren't you.
They could be responsible for all the rumours that causes a spike in oil prices.
