massey 165 draft link boot

I have ordered a new boot for my draft link.(tranny all wet) I have not got a manual and wondered how to get the draft link out in order to change the boot. I have the link and yoke sticking out and it will spin around but what do I have yo do to ger it out? I doubt the boot would stretch enough to go over the yoke. Help would be appreciated. Anyone with a breakdown drawing. Thanks in advance. Don Collison

sorry don, forgot to get back to you, looks like we are getting a flood here down under, pouring cats an dogs and river flood warning. peel the boot back off the lift cover, at 3 oclock on the cover where the boot fits there is a small allen lock screw, back it out a couple of turns, put penetrating oil around the threaded adjusting nut with internal notches in it, there is a special 'C' service tool to undo it, but i have undone it with a good pin punch anti clockwise until it is all the way out. NOW for the fun part, the draft spring assembly should come out soak the internal rod with pen/oil, where the small part of the boot sits there is a small roll pin, position assembly in vice and punch out pin with a pin punch. the rod is almost always frozen and has a cross, two straight screwdriver slots in the end sticking out from thetractor end, you can heat and try undoig it with a large square shank screwdriver and shiftspanner on shank to assist, the other end has a circle with 2 flat sides on it, i have never seen anything that fits it, maybe david.p. from wales can elaborate , but i have had to cut the rod with a hacksaw, make sure you leave enough of the rod to grip with a pipe wrench to undo the cut off end, the hacksaw blade will fit between the spring on an angle when cutting the rod. make sure you can purchase a new rod before you cut the old one. once apart and threads are clean, assemble placingthe boot, adjusting nut then rod and end yoke in right order, apply never seize compound to threadsand do up assembly until it is firm to turn the spring in the assembly, too loose or tight will affect draft response/ function. pin can now be punched in to lock the assembly. place assembly into lift cover, place draft and position control levers in halfway position on the quadrant, screw the adjusting screw in until there is no end play in the assembly, if you screw it in too far it will have end float again, so undo it till there is none, lock up the allen lock screw @ 3oclock, feed boot over assemly. sorry so long, but no easy way to explain. let us know how you get on. cheers from wet downunder, sibby.
