Just read one of the replys to my prior post. My question is why make something so obviously unreligious into something religious? True the phrase has a religious application. When used in a religious context the phrase implies being taken back to a time of innocense, before sin, or being reborn, as we are born innocent and without sin.
Here the basic implication is the same but the actual meaning is different. The meaning here is American, as a country needs to be reborn, or taken back to a time when the government was Government by the people, for the people", not just a bunch of crooks setting up in DC. It needs to be taken back to the time when we were a super power in this world and really it meant something, not a debtor nation to the rest of the world. It needs to go back to a time when everyone was proud to be a REAL American, not a "hyphenated american". It needs to be taken back to a time when hard work meant something, not like it is now when the majority seem to feel a sense of entitlement and expect to be taken care of by the rest of us. If you want to add a religious context then yes it also needs to be taken back to a time when the people believed in the Almighty God or "whoever" and had a right to do it without governmental intrusion. Basically seperation of church and state IMHO implys the government has no say inforcing any religion, not that religion can't have a part in the government as it obviously did for our Founding Fathers
Basically we just need to be taken back in time to a place where America was a proud, powerful nation, not a weak, broke, nearly subservient pawn to the rest of the world. That's what this web site and song implys.... But that's just my opinion.....
