Previous Born Again post NOTreligious........

Just read one of the replys to my prior post. My question is why make something so obviously unreligious into something religious? True the phrase has a religious application. When used in a religious context the phrase implies being taken back to a time of innocense, before sin, or being reborn, as we are born innocent and without sin.

Here the basic implication is the same but the actual meaning is different. The meaning here is American, as a country needs to be reborn, or taken back to a time when the government was Government by the people, for the people", not just a bunch of crooks setting up in DC. It needs to be taken back to the time when we were a super power in this world and really it meant something, not a debtor nation to the rest of the world. It needs to go back to a time when everyone was proud to be a REAL American, not a "hyphenated american". It needs to be taken back to a time when hard work meant something, not like it is now when the majority seem to feel a sense of entitlement and expect to be taken care of by the rest of us. If you want to add a religious context then yes it also needs to be taken back to a time when the people believed in the Almighty God or "whoever" and had a right to do it without governmental intrusion. Basically seperation of church and state IMHO implys the government has no say inforcing any religion, not that religion can't have a part in the government as it obviously did for our Founding Fathers
Basically we just need to be taken back in time to a place where America was a proud, powerful nation, not a weak, broke, nearly subservient pawn to the rest of the world. That's what this web site and song implys.... But that's just my opinion.....

I was with you on that Wayne, until the words about the bible started scrolling on the left side of the screen...and IF it truly has nothing to do with religion, maybe they should have used a different name so patriotic, red blooded, arms bearing, hunting, fishing, tractor pulling, hard working, good to others people like me would be more comfortable participating rather than being worried about being associated with a group that eventually some guy with a cheap suit, slicked back hair, a bunch of rattle snakes and a worn out bible is gonna start speaking for?

Joe you are not alone here i understand you. when the Lord returns he is not interested if you are an american, russian, chinese, french or what ever he is going to want to know if you believe in him or not period! hes given every one ample time to decide some their whole life. but the Lord tells us to "not to throw pearls to swine" if they do not want to listen, your wasting your time. but we both know that at one time or another everyone will believe that there is a Christ even satan believes there is a Christ. al

Al, Perhaps if so many people didn't so forcefully hurl their "pearls" to us "swine", then we wouldn't oink so much when the "Born Again" tag is applied! I for one piggy am perfectly happy right here in my stye rooting for kernals of corn to re-eat...no need for any pearls. See the problem is that EVERY religion has "pearls" that they throw at what they consider "swine", pretty soon ya got a war...been going on since the Crusades when us Anglos used Christianity as the excuse to rape and plunder the muzzies (not that they are any better) then force them to convert on top of it. Have ya ever stopped to wonder if they'd be leaving us alone now, had we left them alone then?
Religion, and Man's inability to quitely worship to himself w/o forcing it on others has killed more people in our history than all diseases and natural disasters combined!

Goodness gracious Pete, Joe & Wayne! Forget about the religious, spiritual and born again stuff. What do you three think of the video itself on its own merit and message??

explain "born into" does that have the same meaning as "with a silver spoon".
When I am born [birth] how can I say I do not want to enter this Den of iniquity, which apparently I know about. Who told me? I am helpless.

Well--that's the kind of stuff that some of the posters are referring to. Can't you keep that to yourself, these beliefs, I mean? Believe what you want and I'll believe what I want to believe but I sure won't push it.
