Car heater working again

Wife started complaining that her car heater wasn"t.... Been there before, last year. Took it to a friend - across the state, who runs a auto electric shop. Ran all the possible electrical tests, all controls operating normally. Finally, he took the hoses off the heater core, hooked a garden hose to it and back flushed. Buncha sludge flowed out, and heater working normally.

So, took off heater hoses, back flushed and working again, now. This is a Chevy Blazer, uses DexCool. I"m thinking that stuff is gumming up the heater core. Did the same flush on my Blazer, as long as I had tools out. Same result. I"m not happy with DexCool.

Yes, dexcool is known for turning to sludge. I have seen it where it looks like a 25% mix of bars leak or similar was put in-nope, just dexcool. Greg
