Question what would you want?

Question? If you where interested in a cylinder block or head on ebay what would you rather bid on? Parts that have been cleaned and magnafluxed only. Parts that have been machined and ready to use when recieved by the buyer. All shop work done by the sellers local machine shop. Or would you prefer to buy the parts as is and have your own local machine shop do the work? Just my thoughts I would like to know the parts have been inspected for defects first and have my local guys do the machine work. I was curious as to your thoughts.

Ya, Id rather have them magnaflux it and know it is soild, then take it to my own machine shop for work, just my thoughts

I would prefer to have them magnafluxed before I bought them to make sure they weren't junk. Machine work I would have done local, by someone I know and trust.

I'm sure there are many fine reputable sellers, however I would not buy a block or head on e-bay..just too many variables for me. I am lucky enough to have three tractor wrecking yards close to me, I would buy from them on the guarantee that the parts are not defective as to machine shop magnafluxing and work to be done, I like to see what I am buying.

If its not magnafluxed and machined its not worth more than scrap iron. Just no way to know. If it has been, at least you have a claim back on the machine shop if something is wrong.

I've pretty well learned my lesson to only buy a complete running tractor. It costs too much to restore something. Then in the end, you've got so much money in it that you feel like you've got to keep it forever.

I would buy it with a certificate from the shop who magafluxed it stating that it was good. Then I would take it my shop to have the machine work done.

Yeah BUT, that machine shop may be half way across the country. I'd buy an unmachined one that had a magnaflux certificate and let my own trusted machinist have at it.

As for myself i have gotten bit on E/Bay one time and once burnt twice shy So when it comes down to buying parts i will stick with people that i know and trust and if i have to give a bit more then so be it . In the years of buying tractor at auctions and off privet party's I like to look people in the eye . Learned the hard way and i was told by people not to do it but i did any way never by a tractor at a sale with a petagree you'll get burnt and i did big time as the nice plastic coated paper that was hanging on the side of said tractor LIED.

I have seen so many cracked heads and blocks I'd be scared to buy anything I couldn't drive and look at and return.
Hard to even trust magnaflux as it is pretty hard to get it down into the cylinders bores.

On some having them pressure checked seems to work better.

Been burned too many times on e-bay. If I can't look at it in person, or I know who I'm dealing with, it's not worth scrap value.
